You are one of the very few scientists who could claim that they made an enormous difference to both the health of the public and to the quality of scientific study – and enormous is not an overstatement. I know you will disagree –your tactful willingness to give credit to others is one of the hallmarks of your career. In fact, although I am truly deeply sorry not to be able to attend the celebration in your honor, I suspect that your speech will be somewhat boring as you will spend all of your allotted time giving undeserved credit to others.
